My backup templates are becoming a little unruly. I now have 2 templates per company - this is not a scalable solution.
I'd like to see backup templates get some improvements that will help make them less cumbersome. For starters, being able to sort them by any metric would be great: by MacOS/Windows, by company, by enabled/disabled, by application status (applied/failed/pending), etc.
To make things more managable, it would be even better if we could define even higher order backup templates. For instance, I'd like to define a universal backup template for Windows and a different one for MacOS. When I create a new backup template, I'd like the template to use the universal template and only change a few values: the name of the template, the company it applies to, the encryption key in the backup plan, and exclusions in the backup plan. For the components defined in the universal template, I don't even want to see those options if I create a new template based on the universal template.
I'd also like to revise the operating systems a little bit. I want to be able to create a template for the following systems: Windows Client, Windows Server, and MacOS. Or better yet, let me make a plan in the template that applies to those. In this way I could have 1 template for each company and contained in that template are backup plans for Windows clients, Windows servers, and MacOS.
